The day the crew rolls off your driveway is the day your warranty starts ticking. Before they leave, walk the property with the foreman and run this list. Every item that fails the check goes on a punch list, dated and signed, before final payment changes hands.
On the roof
- Nail pattern: six nails per shingle on Texas wind zone, set flush — not over- or under-driven.
- Ridge cap alignment: continuous, straight, and lapped into prevailing wind direction.
- Valley installation: open or closed per spec, ice & water shield visible at lower edge.
- Pipe boots: new EPDM or lead-wrapped, properly seated, sealed at the top edge.
- Step flashing at walls: woven into siding or counter-flashed, never face-nailed through the roof plane.
- Drip edge: installed under underlayment at eaves, over underlayment at rakes.
- Ventilation: ridge vent or static vents match the engineered NFA spec, intake screens clear.
On the ground
- Magnetic sweep of driveway, lawn, and flower beds — twice, in two directions.
- Gutter check: no shingle granule buildup, downspouts clear, no fastener strikes in the gutter face.
- Landscaping: tarps removed cleanly, no shingle scraps in beds, A/C unit uncovered.
- Dump trailer hauled, driveway hosed if shingle dust visible.
