A heritage restoration on a 1936 Westover Hills residence. Graduated Vermont slate, hand-sorted on the ground and laid heavy-to-light from eave to ridge, with full copper valleys and a hand-soldered chimney saddle.

What it took.
Graduated thickness
Authentic graduation requires hand-sorting every piece before installation. Two of our slaters spent four days sorting before a single piece went up.
Original chimney geometry
The 1936 chimney was out-of-square by 1.5 in. The cricket and saddle were laid out, cut, and soldered on site rather than fabricated in shop.
